Minister Rolls Out Seven Point Code Of Conduct To Enhance Service Delivery.

  As part of the efforts of the Federal Government’s commitment for the principle of providing selfless and purposeful service to people, the Honourable Miniser of Mines and Steel Development, Chief Sarafa Tunji Isola has rolled out seven points: code of conduct for staffers of the Ministry and its agencies.

Chief Isola disclosed this while inaugurating the Ministerial Servicom Committee of the Ministry.

The seven-point code of conduct include: loyalty to service, Non-leakage of information on official documents; taking interest in the welfare of each other via two ways, Communication process. Attitudinal challenges to work; that is being friendly to their stakeholders; Information Technology compliance and proper mode of dressing.

While inaugurating the committee, the Minister said that the occasion was timely as it came at a time when the Ministry is on the process of launching its new Mining and Metal policy in line with the vision of the present administration to make the country one of the top twenty development economies by the year 2020.

The Minister also affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to play a major role in the attainment of the seven-point agenda of the present administration.

He therefore, stressed the need to embrace the concept of Servicom as a means to realise the Millennium Development Aspirations of Nigeria.

The Minister also disclosed that the Ministry is focusing on the development of seven strategic materials which include: Coal, Bitumen, Iron Ore, Gold, Barytes, Lead/Zinc and Limestone during the lifetime of this administration.

Chief Isola said the premium placed by Government on the Steel and Minerals sector to spearhead the much needed diversification of the national economy calls for the discharging of the Ministry’s regulatory functions with all the zeal and commitment to attract and retain the interest of private sector.

Earlier the National Coordinator of Servicom, Mr. Ad’Obe  joined civil servants to deliver satisfactory services on their various duty posts. 

Mr. Ad’Obe also noted that effective and efficient service delivery should be their watchword, adding that civil servants should always have at the back of their minds their clients/customers satisfaction.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development, Alhaji Isa Bello Sali congratulated members of the Service Delivery Committee on their appointment and charged them to be ready and willing to advance the initiative of Servicom to a lofty height in the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development.

Alhaji Sali advised the committee members to liaise between the Ministry’s Servicom Unit and their various organisations to ensure that the attitudinal changes needed to turn around the fortunes of the public service and make it customer –friendly were implemented.

Responding on behalf of the Ministerial Servicom Committee of the Ministry, the Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Gabriel Okikiolu thanked the Minister for appointing them into the committee and assured that the committee would deliver on its mandate.
