The Minister of Mines and Steel Development
has told foreign investors that Nigeria is eagerly
interested in having any one ready to provide a road map
that will lead to the setting up of a pilot plant to process
the first barrel of bitumen in Nigeria.
The Minister of Mines and Steel Development,
Chief Sarafa Tunji Isola, said at a meeting with
representatives of Paradigm Capital Incorporation of Canada,
that Nigeria is interested in having a formal presentation
at the 2008 Prospectors Association of Canada PDAC,
International Convention and Trade Show which held in
Toronto.
Isola, who led a team from Nigeria to
participate in the event to showcase Nigeria's potentials
for mineral development, gave the assurance that Nigeria was
prepared to throw open, bitumen development to both the
small and big players who have technical ability and
financial capability.
He seized the opportunity of the meeting held
at the Nigerian room to educate them on the Minerals and
Mining Act, with emphasis on minimum work obligation as well
as benefits offered by the federal government as a way of
attracting investments to the sector.
The Managing Director of Paradigm Capital
Incorporation, Phillip Moore, led his team to the meeting in
company of Mr. John Gammon who was Ground Handler to the
Nigerian delegation.
Paradigm Capital Incorporation is noted for
providing linkages between investors and those seeking
investment in the area of financial services and budget
management.
Like other years, this year's Prospectors
Association of Canada convention and trade show was
characterised by extreme weather condition with temperature
as low as minus 38 degrees. But then, this year's outing
attracted well over 23000 delegates from across the world.
This brings one to wonder why delegates were
desperate to participate under such harsh climatic
condition. The only answer is "the venue provides
opportunity for networking and information gathering.
